A dosing device for supplying in samll doses an additive to a liquid foodstuff flowing through a duct (3) comprises an addition unit (6), which has a storage means (7) containing an amount of the additive, and an insertion means (8) connected thereto for supplying in the duct (3) the additive to the foodstuff. At least one of the two means included in the addition unit (6) is an exchange means (7, 8) which is provided with an identity mark (11, 12) and which is only suitable to use when certain predetermined criteria are satisfied. A control means (15) is arranged to collect, based on an identity read with the aid of a reading means (13, 14), information from a database (16) to determine whether an exchange means (7, 8) with a certain identity satisfies the pretermined criteria. A system according to the invention comprises, in addition to such a dosing device (1), a first station for finishing a plurality of exchange means (7, 8) and a central database for storing information about the storage means (7). |
