PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as an improver for fiber dyeing, an antistatic agent for plastics, a resin for toner, a coating material, an adhesive, an ion exchange resin, etc. by transesterifying an alkyl (meth)acrylate with an alkylamino-alcohol. SOLUTION: An alkyl (meth)acrylate of formula I (R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> is a 1-4C alkyl) (e.g. methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate or the like) is transesterified with an alkylamino-alcohol of formula II (R<3> is H or a 1-8C alkyl; R<4> is a 1-8C alkyl; R<5> is a 1-4C alkylene) (e.g. dimethylaminoethanol or the like) to form an alkylamino (meth)acrylate of formula III. The reaction product is distilled by distillation, then the distillate is rectified, a side reaction product in the obtained distillate is thermally decomposed and recovered as a raw material and/or an alkylamino (meth)acrylate to give the objective compound. |
