Interference particles are used in paints to obtain paints that filter visible or infrared light. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a paint composition based on organic compounds containing interference particles, such that a coating obtained by application of the composition onto a support selectively transmits visible or infrared light in one or more wavelength ranges; and (2) treating translucent or transparent glass, in which a coating containing interference particles is deposited by projection or with the aid of an applicator tool.
