The belt knife consists of a handle (1) provided with an axis of rotation (3) for the pivoting blade (2) so that it can lodge inside the handle. A magnet (4) is fixed to the blade so that, when the blade is opened, one of the faces of the magnet is in contact with the metallic surface of the handle so that the blade is held in that position. When the blade is folded, the magnet holds the knife onto its support (5), which is placed on the operator's belt.
