The mechanism consists of a vertical bolt (1) on the corner of one door leaf furthest from its hinged side and engaging with a catch plate in the door surround or floor, operated by an actuator (2) on the vertical edge of the leaf when the second leaf is closed. The actuator is linked to the bolt by a connecting mechanism in the form of a flat, spring-loaded triangular plate (3) rotating about a pivot (33) at one corner (30), and connected at its other two corners (31, 32) to extension strips (20, 10) on the actuator and bolt respectively. The free ends of the strips are connected by a peg (13) engaging with elongated slots (12, 21). |
