1442657 Circuit board surface connector BUNKER RAMO CORP 5 Oct 1973 [13 Oct 1972] 46697/73 Heading H2E An electrical connector 20 for connection to a panel board 10 on which are mounted a flat conductor rail 16 adjacent to and parallel to a row of terminal pins 12 with one said connector for each, comprises a pair of stamped box type electrical contacts 22 (A and B) with a channel shaped centre section 28 (A and B), the side walls 30 of which each have, in the same direction a longitudinal extension 32 (A and B), which is bent back on itself, forming a pair of cantilevered parallel facing spring fingers; a section for connection by means of a crimping sleeve 36 (A and B) to conductor 38 (A and B) extending from the channel base in the opposite direction from the first extensions; a locking tab 46 (A and B) extending from and angled away from the centre section 28 (A and B); a moulded housing 26 with cavities 24A, 24B each dimensioned to receive a contact 22 (A and B), the upper ends open for contact insertion and the lower ends having respectively a flared hole 50 dimensioned to receive a terminal pin 12 and a rail receiving slot 52, the wall having an opening 54 into which locking tab 46 extends part way and one square or two circular projections 56 and corresponding mating recesses on the opposite outside for press fitting adjacent connectors 20 together. Cavities 24 and centre sections 28 have equal widths. Insulating wall 48 prevents spurious contacts between contacts 22. Slot 52 has a rail-fitting chamfered edge. There may be front and back openings 54 in a cavity 24 for the contact to face either way and for receiving a tab-depressing tool for contact removal. Crimping sleeves 42 (A, B) grip the cable insulation. |
