A method for coating an undercoat, characterized in that an electrically conductive substrate to be coated is first subjected to an electrostatic coating with an electrically conductive powder coating containing at least one transparent or white electrically conductive powder selected from a zinc oxide powder, a tin dioxide powder doped with antimony and an inorganic powder coated with a tin dioxide powder doped with antimony, to form a coating film having a volume specific resistance in the range of 10?7 to 1013¿ Φ.cm at 20 °C, at 25 V, and then an uncoated part, a dust part and a thin film part of the substrate are subjected to a cationic electrodeposition coating. According to the method, on an electrically conductive substrate, an undercoat can be formed, which is excellent, for example, in smoothness of a boundary region between a powder coating and an electrodeposition coating and in resistance to corrosion, and can provide good finish of a top coat.
|
