The process uses a continuous press (1) with an intake mouth (E). The intake contour is preselected dependent upon press material characteristics, board height, spreading density, and desired board thickness. The contour is regulated and monitored via at least one board deformation measuring unit (14), which determines deformations of upper and/or lower intake panels (8,9) and is connected to a control/regulator unit (17).
