<p>This invention concerns a process useful for removing carbon dioxide from landfill gas, comprising: contacting the landfill gas which contains carbon dioxide, nitrogen, methane, and oxygen with alkylene carbonate under conditions effective to remove at least a portion of the carbon dioxide from the stream. The landfill gas may also contain chlorinated hydrocarbons, which may also have a detrimental effect on use of amines. Advantageously, use of alkylene carbonate may be used successfully despite the presence of both oxygen and chlorinated hydrocarbons.</p> |
