The medical system has a base unit (1) to which different independent medical devices (5,8,9,10) are connected. The different medical devices are operated independently of the base unit and form different therapeutic and/or diagnostic work stations. The base unit has an arrangement for controlling the data exchange between the base unit and the medical devices and for controlling the data exchange between the different medical devices. The base unit also has an arrangement for displaying information obtained from the medical devices (8,10). The base unit also has an arrangement for documentation.
