The vacuum cleaner has a lower housing part (1) with an electrically powered brush associated with a further housing part (3) in which the functional parts for vacuum generation, dust filtering and dust collection are integrated. The lower housing part can be connected to the suction circuit of the further housing parts. The further housing part consists of a basic vacuum cleaner which can be removably coupled to the upper housing part. The lower housing part can be connected to an electrical power supply via an electrical cable and the basic vacuum cleaner can be connected to the lower housing part's circuit via an electrical plug connector.
