Use for treating water and surfaces in contact with water to prevent the deposition of and/or the removal of and/or for the control of macroorganisms, as well as composition and paint therefor

Treatment of water and surfaces in contact with water comprises using a compsn. contg. at least one polyamine of formula (I) R1-NH-((CH2)3-NH)n-(CH2)3-NH2 and at least one monoamine of formula (II) R2NH2 are new. In the formulae, R1 is 8-22C alkyl or alkenyl; n is 0-3; R2 is 8-22C alkyl or alkenyl. Also claimed are: (A) a compsn. contg. (I) and (II) where R1 is dodecyl, tetradecyl or octadecenyl; (B) a paint used for this method comprising: (i) 1 pt. polyamine of formula (I) where R1 is dodecyl and/or at least a polyamine of formula (I) where R1 is tetradecyl; and (ii) 2 nd part polyamine(s) of formula (I) where R1 is octadecenyl.
