Laser recording element comprising oxalanilide UV dyes

A laser recording element has a support carrying a dye layer contg.: (i) a polymeric binder in which is dispersed: (ii) a UV-absorbing oxalanilide dye of formula (I). The layer is associated with an IR-absorbing material. (a) n and m = 1; R1 = OC2H5 or N(C2H5)2; and R2 = C2H5 or N(C2H5)2; or (b) m = 1; n = 2; R1 = H; and R2 = OH and the other R2 = CH3. Also claimed is a single sheet process for forming a dye image.
