PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly find an illegal copy by embedding identification informa tion in musical sound waveform data so as not to be acoustically conspicuous, regarding an identification information embedding method for embedding identifi cation information in musical sound waveform data. SOLUTION: In this method, identification information is embedded only in a waveform part involving many noise components and well representing the features of the tone quality of a musical sound among the waveform data of a musical sound, and/or only a waveform part involving a large amplitude and well representing the features of the tone quality of a musical sound among the waveform data of the musical sound. When identification information is embedded in the waveform data of a musical sound, the degree of the deterioration of the tone quality changes, depending on where the information should be embedded in the data. A part of the waveform data involving many noise components is not conspicuous acoustically and hardly perceived at the time of sound reproduction even if identification information is embedded, and the deterioration of the tone quality is relatively small. |
