MANUFACTURE OF INK JET PRINT HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a print head for an ink jet printer through a process in which a first substrate for ink channel is aligned with a second substrate for heating element with high reliability. SOLUTION: An array of heating element is formed on a first substrate having at least one substantially flat surface. A current pulse is applied from an electrode to the heating element. An insulation layer 11 is provided on the surface of the substrate and subjected to chemical or mechanical processing for exposing the heating element. An ink channel substrate 3 having at least one ink liquid reservoir and at least one ink channel is formed. A key or a key groove 15 is made on the ink channel substrate 3 and a corresponding key groove is made on the insulation layer 11. The ink channel substrate 3 is bonded to the heating element substrate using the key and key groove 15 as alignment guide, thus arranging the ink channel and the heating elements appropriately.
