摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light power divider which neither increases the length of an element nor generates large additional loss when an output end is extended by providing a beam divider which has a refractive index smaller than the core refractive indexes of an input and an output waveguide and distributes output lights at a specific ratio in an area where an incident light is branched. SOLUTION: The beam divider 200 is arranged triangularly in the area where the input light is branched from the input optical waveguide to the output optical waveguide and made of a substance which has a refractive index less than the refractive indexes of the cores of the input and output optical waveguides and distributes the output lights at the specific ratio. Here, the distribution proportion of light outputted to output ports P1 to P4 varies with the refractive index of the beam divider 200, the height of the triangle, and the length of the base. A beam expander 210 is arranged in a triangular shape adjacently outside the area where the incident light is branched from the input optical waveguide to the output optical waveguide and is made of a substance having a refractive index larger than the refractive index of the cladding areas of the input and output optical waveguides and distribute the output light beams at the specific ratio.
