PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink suitable for ink jet recording, excellent in reliability and capable of providing a high image density by including carbon black and a water-soluble dye having carboxyl groups therein. SOLUTION: This ink is obtained by including at least (A) carbon black and (B) a water-soluble dye having carboxyl groups. The content ratio of the components A to B is preferably (5:1) to (1:1) on the weight basis. (C) A water- soluble organic solvent (e.g. glycerol or a mixture of the glycerol with diethylene glycol or ethylene glycol) and (D) water (e.g. ion-exchanged water) are further preferably contained therein. The amount of the component A used is preferably 2-12 wt.% based on the total weight of the ink. Compounds, or the like, represented by formulae I and II are preferably used as the component B. Furthermore, a surfactant, an antifoaming agent, a pH adjustor, a preservative, or the like, can be added to the ink. |
