PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission and reception waveguide module which is small-sized and reducible in manufacture cost by using a united type photodetecting element obtd. by integrally forming a photodetecting element for reception and a photodetecting element for transmission monitoring. SOLUTION: An optical fiber 10 is positioned and mounted by a V-shaped groove 12 without adjusting its optical axis. A light emitting element 2 is mounted so that it is coupled with a 2nd part of a waveguide, and the photodetecting element 8 for transmission monitoring and photodetecting element 9 for reception are formed in one body. Namely, the united type photodetecting element 3 is mounted so that the photodetecting element 8 for transmission monitoring is coupled with the light emitted from the rear surface of the light emitting element 2. Since the united type photodetecting element 3 is used, the interval between the photodetecting element 8 for transmission monitoring and photodetecting element 9 for reception can be minimized. The interval between the light emitting element 2 and photodetecting element 9 for reception can, therefore, be minimized and a Y-branch part 5 of a waveguide can be made the shortest, so that the optical transmission and reception module is made sufficiently small-sized. |
