CHANNEL ESTIMATION METHOD AND SIGNAL RECEPTION CIRCUIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome difficulties in channel estimation on the basis only of a pilot symbol. SOLUTION: This is a channel estimation method in a cellular communication system. Data are transmitted in a variable data transmission rate as plural data symbols over a sequence of a time slot. Each time slot has the data symbol, including at least a ratio (k) which depends upon the data transmission rate. Estimation of the transmission rate 40 is determined and used by a channel estimation 37, so that the channel estimation 37 is based on a reception data symbol. A signal reception circuit for use in the cellular communication system incorporating this technology is also mentioned.
