PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a number of people counting system easy to execute installation, adjustment work, maintenance, etc., and capable of counting the distribution of people or the number of people in a large room space at comparatively high accuracy. SOLUTION: Infrared cameras 2-1 to 2-n and a temperature sensor 3 are arranged in a large room space 1. An area including seats 4 in the space 1 is divided into plural monitoring areas and photographed by the cameras 2-1 to 2-n. A person counter 5 is connected to the cameras 2-1 to 2-n through a video switch 6. The counter 5 segments a prescribed image processing area from a heat image entered from the connected camera 2, finds out a threshold corresponding to a room temperature T and a measuring distance L and judges pixels expressing a human body from the threshold. Then the number of persons existing in a room area corresponding to the image processing area is counted by dividing the total area of pixels by the area of a reference pixel. |
