PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool coated with a hard laminate film wherein toughness is increased without losing wear resistance and thermal resistance is maintained. SOLUTION: A tool coated with a hard laminate film is provided, which is constructed in such a manner that a hard laminate film 18 is provided in the surface of a base body 12 by alternately stacking inner layers 14 having an average layer thickness of 0.01 to 0.50μm and indicated by the composition of a formula I of (Alx Ti1-x )(Ny C1-y ) (in the formula, x and y are 0.05<=x<=0.05, 0,50<=y<=1.00) and outer layers 16 having an average layer thickness of 0.01 to 0.50μm and indicated by the composition of a formula II of (Alz Ti1-z )(Nt C1-t ) (in the formula, z and t are 0.50<z<=0.80, 0.50<=t<=1.00), the entire composition of the hard laminate film 18 becomes aluminum-rich in a stoichiometic manner, and an entire average film thickness D1 is set from 0.50 to 10.0μm.
