PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an extremely thin, flat, microfine foil powder that has iris-like specially brilliant and esthetical appearance and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This is a foil powder that is prepared by laminating resin layers of a 0.2-5μm thickness on both faces of a metallic thin layer (c) with a thickness of 10-300 nm in which at least one layer of the resin layers has a holographically processed surface. The specially brilliant foil powder is produced by forming at least an undercoat resin layer (b), a metallic thin layer (c), and a top coat resin layer (d) on a specially brilliant foil powder and a releasable base film (a), then releasing the base film to prepare a laminated body other than the base film. The resultant laminate body is crushed to give the objective foil powder in which at least one surface of (b) and (d) is subjected to the holographic processing.
