PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film magnetic head which makes it possible to simultaneously obtain a good NLTS characteristic and OW characteristic by forming the front end region of an upper core layer to an adequate size. SOLUTION: The value of S×Bs multiplied by the sectional area S (film thickness d1×track width Tw) in the front region A of the upper core layer 6 and a saturation magnetic flux density Bs is specified to a range of 1.5 to 10.5μm<2> /T, more preferably 4.0 to 8.0μm<2> /T and further, a pole straight length L1 is specified within a range of 3.5 to 7.6μm, by which the good NLTS characteristic and OW characteristic may be simultaneously obtd. |
