PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitrarily set switching start time without necessity to secure an optical fiber line for communication and without the generation of a synchronization error by mutually synchronizing the switching start time of an optical fiber switching device corresponding to time data provided from GPS radio waves. SOLUTION: At a master side switching device 6, the connector connecting part of an active optical fiber 1 and the connector of a new optical fiber 3 are set to a connector switching part 14 of a switcher 11. At a slave side switching device 7, similar work is performed as well. The time data of GPS based on radio waves from an artificial satellite 9 are received by a controller 12 of the master side switching device 6 and a controller 22 of the slave side switching device 7, and the respective switchers 11 and 21 are simultaneously started being operated. Then, the connector of the active optical fiber 1 is disconnected by the connector switching parts 14 and 24 and switching operation for connecting the connector of the new optical fiber 3 is simultaneously performed at two spots to perform switching. |
