The electronic equipment has a switch-on device, a microcomputer controller, a current supply unit, a first transmitter (7), and a first receiver. The microcomputer (6) is programmed to control the transmission of a request signal via a first transmitter after switch-on and to only allow the equipment to operate or maintain operation if a defined response signal is received by a first receiver (8). The request signal can be transmitted at regular intervals. An Independent claim is also included for a set of equipment containing the electronic device and a transmitter/receiver for personal wear.
