<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the low-cost liquid crystal display device with small power consumption which eliminates the need for a special circuit for format conversion even when the format of an input video signal is different. SOLUTION: The display device which has pixels 103 arranged in two dimensions and selects pixels through gate lines G1 to Gn and signal lines S1 to Sn to display images is equipped with a signal line driving means 110 which repeatedly supplies the same signal as previous signals to some of the signal lines according to a given rule when a video signal in format consisting of a less number of pixels in the row direction of a pixel signal to be displayed than the number of row-directional pixels is supplied; and the same video signal Vin is supplied to plural signal line and can be applied to pixels connected to the same gate line and the video signal in the different format can be displayed without providing any special format converting circuit.</p> |
