A core (1) of plastic or wood, round, oval or polygonal in shape is placed inside a bar of soap (2) so that all the soap can be used. The core is large enough to stop it going down the drain when the soap has been used up. It can be solid or hollow, with a smooth or grooved surface. In one variant it can have a portion which projects from the bar of soap to be used as a holder or a small brush.
