PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft bias film which stably shows satisfactory soft magnetic characteristics with a high specific resistance to stably enhance the reproduced output of a magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head. SOLUTION: For the soft bias film 2 constituting an MR sensor film of the magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head, a soft magnetic film is used which consists of an alloy consisting of one or more of Ni, Fe, and Co and one or more compounds selected from ZrO2 , Al2 O3 , HfO2 , TiO2 , MgO, ZrN, AlN, HfN, TiN, and Mg3 N2 and have a specific resistanceρ, an anisotropic magnetic field Hk, and magnetostriction constantλsatisfyingρ>=μΩ.cm, Hk<=Oe, and -1×10<-6> <=λ<=1×10<-6> .
