The sleeve (30) for the battery is made of thermally conductive graphite fibres laid in the same direction and supported in an electrically insulating adhesive such as an epoxy resin. The sleeve is placed over a tubular cylinder (22) which terminates in a base flange (48) with fixing holes (60) round its periphery. The flange provides a thermal bridge from the graphite fibres to the mounting.
