PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide annotation technology for helping a reader to quickly acquire much information from a document allowed to be utilized by an electronic form. SOLUTION: The method for annotating an electronically stored document to be executed by a computer has a step for specifying a concept in which a user is interested about the display of a document browsing display by the use of a concept check box 206, identifying the written position of discussion related to the specified concept and vidually displaying the identified position (e.g. highlight display for a related sentence). A 1st area 201 for indicating a thumbnail image of the electronic document and a 2nd area 202 indicating a part of the document are set up on a display, the display part of the 2nd area 202 is displayed as an emphasized area 205a in the 1st area 201 and the emphasized area 205a is vertically moved synchronously with the scrolling of the 2nd area 202.
