PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device capable of specifying a road by road name and performing a variety of processing. SOLUTION: A navigation controller 1 comprises a map buffer 16, a map read control part 18, a map drawing part 20, a VRAM 22, a route search processing part 36, a set route memory 38, a set route drawing part 42, a road selection processing part 48, and a control picture generating part 64. The road selection processing part 48 displays a search road setting picture including a road name list on the screen of a display device 9 through the control picture generating part 64, and when any road name of this picture is selected, it extracts the node included in the road corresponding to the road name, and also sets a map scale capable of displaying the whole length of this road. Thus, the whole length of the road searched on the basis of the designated road name is emphasized and displayed on the map of the thus-set scale. |
