PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deposition of a crystallized substance containing hydroxybutyric acid as a principal component to a contact interface between a lead hole of a sealing rubber and a cathode-side lead wire, in the case where an aluminum electrolytic capacitor using an electrolyte solution formed by dissolving an electrolyte into a solvent containingγ-butyrolactone is used for a long period of time at a high temperature and high humidity, and thus provide an aluminum electrolytic capacitor of high reliability. SOLUTION: In an electrolyte solution for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor formed by dissolving a salt of organic acid and a base of 1.0×10<-10> mol/dm<3> or less when the concentration of hydrogen ions in the base or a solution of hydroxide of the base is 1 wt.% and the measured temperature is 30 deg.C from among nitrogen-containing bases as an electrolyte into a solvent containingγ-butyrolactone, one or more selected from the group consisting of o-nitrobenzoic acid, m-nitrobenzoic acid, o-nitrophenol, and p-nitrophenol is dissolved within a range of 0.1-5 wt.%. Thus, an aluminum electrolytic capacitor of high reliability is provided.
