PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly estimate a life of a machine, e.g. an engine or the like without skills by correctly converting a damage quantity applied to the machine, e.g. engine or the like into numbers. SOLUTION: An engine rotational number Ne and a governor rack position (fuel injection quantity) V are selected as operation parameters indicating a load to an engine. A combination of the operation parameter values Ne, V is divided to a plurality of levels B1 , B2 ,...B16 . A two-dimensional load map B indicating a size distribution of the load to the engine is thus set. Values of the operation parameters Ne, V are detected. The operation parameters Ne, V are detected until a fixed time passes. A timeαi while the operation parameters belonging to a level Bi (i=1-16) are detected is integrated for every level B1 , B2 ,...B16 of the load map B.
