PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray image pickup panel having a good X-ray absorption factor and easy to manufacture. SOLUTION: This X-ray image pickup panel is constituted of a photoconductive layer 62 formed on a substrate and having photoconductivity and accumulative capacitors 24 and switching elements 26 two-dimensionally arranged between the photoconductive layer and the substrate. A conversion cell 20 converting an X-ray image into an electric signal is formed with the accumulative capacitor 24, the switching element 26 and the photoconductive layer located above them. The photoconductive layer is a coated layer coated to the prescribed thickness on the substrate. The photoconductive layer is made of a photoconductive inorganic compound having a high X-ray absorption factor such as ZnO, CdS, CdSe, PbO, HgI2 , CdTe, CdZnTe, PbI2 , TlI2 , Bi12 GeO20 , Bi12 SiO20 . Since the photoconductive layer is made of the photoconductive material having a high X-ray absorption factor, the S/N ratio of the X-ray image signal is good. The photoconductive layer is formed in a coating process, it can be easily manufactured, its manufacturing time is shortened, and the cost can be reduced.
