PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a highly foamed polyolefin-insulated electric wire bearing an insulating layer having a thickness in a wide range from thin to thick thickness. SOLUTION: This foamed electric wire is a foamed polyolefin-insulated electric wire comprising a conductor with 1 mmϕor smaller diameter and an insulating coating with 2 mm or thinner thickness, having both of (1) equivalent dielectric constant <1.45 and (2) crushing deformation resistance ratio <=20%. A mixture of ionomer and polypropylene resin in (20:80)-(80:20) wt. ratio is used as the polyolefin. The insulating layer comprises a composite structure constituted of the foamed insulating layer and a filled insulating layer mainly containing another polyolefin. Alternatively, the insulating layer comprises a composite structure constituted of an polyethylene or acid-modified polyethylene-filled insulating layer, a foamed insulating layer, and a filled insulating layer mainly containing another polyolefin.
