PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a position detecting method for a moving device capable of improving the precision of a detected position and the durability of a piping by measuring the magnetic anisotropic level of the piping by the magnetostrictive sensor of an in-pipe moving device to detect a joint of the piping, and detecting the position of the in-pipe moving device on the basis of the number of joints and the joint distribution information of the piping. SOLUTION: The voltage corresponding to the magnetic anisotropic level of a piping 2 is measured by a magnetostrictive sensor 9 in the axial direction of the piping 2 according to the movement of an inspecting pig 1. It is compared with the threshold of the difference between the predetermined voltage of a welded joint and the voltage in a general part which is not a welded joint to judge where this position is a joint or not. When the joint is judged, it is counted as the joint portion, the pig 1 passed, and the position of the pig 1 is detected on the basis of the joint distribution information determined in a piping construction drawing. According to this, the misunderstanding of the position is eliminated even when the piping 2 includes a curved part. Since the position can be precisely detected, the durability of a piping system or the pig 1 and the reliability of the detected position can be improved, and a precise inspected position can be related to the inspection result of the piping 2 by the pig 1. |
