PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a code decoding device, including a variable length code decoder via a pipeline. SOLUTION: This coding device decomposes an encoded signal strjng into plural signal strings including a specific fixed length code through the next one and temporarily writes the decomposed signal strings into plural buffer memories 3. Then these written signal strings are read in time series out or the memories 3. A pipeline decoder 6 includes a correlator, which detects the specific fixed length codes from those signal strings, a fixed length code reading means, a means which detects the length of the continuous codes, a means which generates an address from the detected length of the continuous codes and some of original signal strings, and a means which reads the length of a variable length code and a code of another system out of a memory, that stores the length of the variable length code corresponding to the address and the code of another system. |
