摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the light emission efficiency of a plasma display panel(PDP) and to reduce the power consumption by making the integral value of a discharging current in a specific period less than the integral value of a discharging current in the period after that. SOLUTION: When a period wherein a discharging current value which is >=5% of the maximum value of a discharging current of one discharging process is obtained is regarded as one discharging period, the integral value of the discharging current in a period from the beginning to 40% of the one discharging period is made smaller than the integral value of the discharging current in the period after that. Namely, while the distribution of the discharging current is made to correspond to the distribution of light emission efficiency, the discharging current before the time when the conventional discharging current has a maximum value is made small as shown in the graph II to improve the light emission efficiency. In this case, the time when the discharging current has the maximum value needs to be put close to the time when the light emission efficiency has the maximum value, namely, the discharging current in the front half of a discharging period wherein the light emission efficiency is relatively small needs to be reduced so as to improve the light emission efficiency of the whole discharging (value obtained by dividing all light emission by all electric power).
