<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a packet transfer system which by-passes a router network by directly connecting ATM exchange nodes to each other through an ATM logical connection in a network having a point-to-point link between the routers of a non-ATM(nonasynchronous transfer mode) network through an ATM network. SOLUTION: A packet transfer system determines a packet and a path by correlating the identifier 31 of a point-to-point link, the destination IP(Internet protocol) address 32 of an IP packet and the identifier 34 of a short-cut path after setting a short-cut path by solving the ATM address of a conversion node at the outlet of a router network from the destination IP address from the link of a non-ATM interface and transfers the received packet to the non- ATM interface from the short-cut path by correlating the identifier 42 of the link to which the packet is to be transmitted and header information 43 to be used at the time of transmitting the packet to the link with the IP address 41 received at the reception-side node 54 of the short-cut path. In this way, bypass distribution of router network is realized.</p> |
