PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately stop a transfer belt at the outbreak of a jam to minimize an amount of a jammed medium to be recorded that is carried by a transfer belt. SOLUTION: The transfer belt 21 carries the medium to b recorded in contact with each of photoreceptor drums 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d. Transfer blades 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d are also in contact with the photoreceptor drums 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d, respectively. In case a jam occurs, the transfer belt 21 and the transfer blades 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d are first driven away from the photoreceptor drums 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d, respectively, and then the drive of the transfer belt 21 is stopped. |
