PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly discriminate whether a fault in a satellite circuit is caused by rainfall or the fault of a device itself. SOLUTION: This rainfall/device fault discrimination system includes a satellite communication system, where a master station 1 is connected using a TDMA system to plural slave stations 5 via a communication satellite 3. Based on a rainfall attenuation a1 of a prescribed reference wave P sent from the satellite 3 and detected at the station 1, a down rainfall attenuation Md2a of a continuous wave C is calculated against an up rainfall margin Mu2 of a burst wave B by means of a circuit design. At the same time, a value obtained by adding the attenuation Md2a of the wave C to the total rainfall attenuation (U1 -T) of the station 1 to which the transmitting power control value T of the station 1 is added is defined as a threshold T1 of the received level attenuation of the wave C at each station 5. Then it is determined that a fault of a satellite circuit is caused by a rainfall from the fact that the station 1 is unable to receive the wave B from the station 5 after the received level attenuation (x) of the wave C detected at the station 5 exceeds the threshold T1 . |
