摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress stripe-shaped display non-uniformity to appear in alignment control direction, and to improve display definition with high contrast by making almost orthogonal a polarized optical axis on the side of incident light and a polarized optical axis on the side of emitted light and almost matching the polarized optical axis on one side with the azimuth angle of liquid crystal molecules on one substrate. SOLUTION: Alignment control layers 3 and 5 formed on respective substrates 1 and 7 are composed of vertically alignment layers and uniaxial alignment processing is performed to the surface of that alignment layer. Besides, both the layers are stuck so that their alignment azimuth angles 14 and 15 can be an angle θ between both the substrates 1 and 7. One the opposite side to a liquid crystal layer 4 of one substrate 1, a polarizer 12 is provided so as to make mutually orthogonal a polarized optical axis 16 of incident light and a polarized optical axis 17 of emitted light. Any one of polarized optical axes 16 and 17 is arranged so as to be matched with the unidirectional alignment azimuth angles 14 and 15 of the substrate of any one of liquid crystal electro-optical elements and outside the other liquid crystal electrode-optical element, a reflector 13 utilizing an aluminium mirror is arranged.
