<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peripheral device with which power consumption can be automatically reduced corresponding to the power supply state of a host computer. SOLUTION: Based on the detected result of a host power source detecting means 101, a timer control part 102 discriminates whether the power source of the host is turned off continuously for a first prescribed time or not, and when the power source of the host is turned off continuously for the first prescribed time, the power-off of the host is reported to a CPU 100. The CPU 100, which receives this power source off report of the host, starts a power consumption reduction mode and in this power consumption reduction mode, supply stop of clock signals to the respective blocks of a host interface control part, a host interface buffer and print control part is instructed to a data controller 106 and a fetch cycle to its own ROM 105 is stopped.</p> |
