PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an alarm corresponding to a safe inter-vehicle distance by changing a prescribed standard so as to lower the operation sensitivity of an alarming means corresponding to the increase of an offset amount accompanying the movement of a present vehicle in the operating direction of a direction indicator. SOLUTION: The offset value of a vehicle width direction is calculated in a vehicle offset amount calculation part 14 to which the output of a scanning beam type radar device 10 is inputted and an actual inter-vehicle distance is calculated in an actual inter-vehicle distance calculation part 18. In a relative speed calculation part 19, a relative speed is calculated based on the change amount per hour of the actual inter- vehicle distance. In a safe inter-vehicle distance calculation part 15, the safe inter- vehicle distance is calculated from the output of a car speed sensor 11, the relative speed and the input of a winker SW 12, etc., and a calculation method becomes different depending on whether the winker SW 12 is ON or OFF. The safe inter-vehicle distance and the actual inter-vehicle distance are compared and an alarming device 17 is operated. At the time, in the case of operating the direction indicator and passing a preceding vehicle, the safe inter-vehicle distance is corrected by a correction coefficientαcalculated from the offset amount and the operation sensitivity of the alarm is lowered.
