Nondestructive ultrasound method for detecting flaws within narrow strip-type solid bodies

A pair of guided ultrasound waves are produced within a solid body. Reflection waves from each wave are detected with an ultrasound detector and their signals are combined to detect flaws within the solid body. The two incident waves are of different modes. Preferably, the first wave is a Lamb wave and the second is a plane wave such as a rod or pipe wave.
