The invention relates to a filter element comprising a fixing device (3) for fixing filter strips (1) folded in a zigzag-like manner and in which supporting segments (4, 5) are arranged inside the folds. The fixing device (3) consists of two parts which have corresponding contours and can each be attached centrally to the filter element from the unfiltered air side and the filtered air side of said filter element. The two parts can be pressed against each other or attached to each other in predefined points, thus fixing the filter strips (1).
