The invention concerns a device for connecting/disconnecting two individual optical fibres (3, 4) comprising: two ferrules (1, 2) each having a front surface (5, 6), a connection groove (12) wherein the two ferrules can be engaged facing each other, two axial retaining means (13, 14) to restrict the axial movements of one ferrule relative to the connection groove, in a direction opposite to the engagement direction in said groove, an elastic member (17) pushing back one of the ferrules (1) to press the front surfaces of the two ferrules against each other during the connection. For disconnection, the device has an unlocking key for neutralising the axial retaining means (14) of one of the ferrules (2), and the elastic member (17) is so arranged that, when the unlocking key neutralises the retaining means, it drives back the ferrule outwards from the alignment sleeve and brings about the disconnection.
