The spindle has a defined range of movement, and the distance(78) of the wiper arm(60) from the vehicle's body or windscreen, and the distance of the inner end(22) of the spindle, or of a part(74) rigidly connected to it, from an adjacent part(86) of the vehicle corresponds to the range of movement.
