Access authorization verification method for banking machine or computer system

The access authorization verification method has an input device (28) with an input keyboard (30) and a display (34-1,..34-4) for entering a numeric, alphanumeric, or alphabetic character combination identifying the user. The display provides a random character sequence which is altered by the user to the personal identification code without the latter itself being displayed. An Independent claim for an input device for entering a numeric, alphanumeric, or alphabetical identification code for an access control is also included.
