<p>A device for securing a load to a surface of a vehicle comprises a housing (10) carrying means (18) for holding the load and containing at least one permanent magnet (38) producing magnetic flux for fixedly securing the housing in a desired position on the surface. The device further has a resilient rubberised base cover for contact with the surface to inhibit damage of same and screw means (26, 28) enabling the movement of the magnet (38) relative to the housing. Movement of the magnet towards the base cover increases the magnetic flux at the base to clamp the device to the vehicle. Subsequent screwing of the magnet away from the base decreases the intensity of the magnetic flux to allow removal of the device from the surface.</p> |
